Hong Qiao Landmark Building
Plincke won the competition for the Hong Qiao riverfront masterplan in Shanghai with a joint submission with the Sino-Swiss architects; BNL. Based upon river erosion of rock formations, the proposals introduced organic building and landscape forms as a junction between the river setting and the rigidity of the urban grid masterplan.
The practice developed the urban design proposals from the London studio assisted by a Plincke team working from Shanghai. The competition includes a series of interconnected urban spaces that respond to both the riverfront location and a wider spatial masterplan for a new low carbon business district associated with Hong Qiao airport.
Other elements of the masterplan have been developed by teams including Foster & Partners, Make, and Zaha Hadid.
