Bombay Education Village
Plincke were asked to provide masterplan input by Aedas on a sustainable, social and educational development for Indian charity, Bombay Teen Challenge. The proposed Education Village will provide a campus of facilities for former sex workers and their children, plus other underprivileged groups, living in and around the red light district. It will provide security, education and literacy, vocational training, medical treatment and counselling.
Our masterplan proposals were influenced by land patterns evident in the local landscape, creating a strong landscape structure across the site. With clearly defined zones for different uses we proposed a diverse and adaptable landscape – breaking down into a mix of private and community spaces linked by movement zones.
