Titus Salt School, Bradford
Opened in September 2008, Titus Salt, a specialist school in mathematics and computing, was one of three sample schools in the Bradford BSF. Located adjacent to Saltaire Unesco World Heritage Site, with a Woodland setting to rear, we carried out a Landscape + Visual Impact Assessment prior to our design working as part of the design team with architects, Anshen + Allen.
The building forms a number of courtyards which are used to support the humanities, science and music curriculum at ground floor. At roof level a terrace gives stunning views of the surrounding valley and is used for external art lessons. The wider landscape includes a wildlife pond, social spaces and sports pitches – with sports facilities used by the school and community groups after school hours.
