Brent Civic Centre
Plincke worked alongside MAKE Architects on design proposals for a new civic centre in the London Borough of Brent. Commissioned by Brent Council, the proposals sought to create a high-quality landmark building as a community centrepiece, in the heart of the Wembley regeneration masterplan. As the regeneration of Wembley continues on land surrounding Wembley Stadium, a range of new shops, restaurants, cafés and leisure facilities will also be built nearby and the building will be a state of the art administrative building fit of the 21st Century.
Proposed as an asset for Brent’s communities, with exceptional levels of access to a wide range of public and council services, the new Civic Centre would become the Council’s headquarters and house many of its services in
one location. As well as a space for councillors to meet and work, it would also provide a range of public facilities, including:
• a new flagship central library and learning centre
• community meeting and performance spaces
• Registrar’s services
• a large capacity assembly hall
• retail and exhibition space
The MAKE | Plincke proposal sought to blur the distinctions between buildings and landscape, instead creating an integrated site response to the regeneration challenges posed by the site.
