Islamia Primary School, Brent

Our brief was to design exterior spaces which provide diversity of use, variety of character and to express and facilitate the cultural ethos of the school – all on a confined site sitting close against the public highway and the adjacent properties. We worked closely with architects Marks Barfield to integrate interior and exterior to make economical use of the space available.

Our proposals included play, social and learning facilities throughout all aspects of the building. The various areas were positioned to maximise the natural elements of light, water and planting in order to provide high a quality environment. We also consulted extensively with the school community to integrate elements throughout the design which support the Islamic beliefs of the school.
