Warwick District Council selected Plincke from over 30 consultants to prepare a landscape restoration plan for its chain of Listed parks. The parks follow the course of the River Leam and form a continuous green corridor through the historic town centre.
Extensive community consultation enabled a high degree of feedback at a local level which contributed to the process in a positive and structured way. We set up a steering group with the Warwick District Council for local amenity groups, council members and the Warwickshire Gardens Trust.
The gardens include a public temperate house with an associated restaurant. Revenue generators were considered in line with the long term sustainability of the project and despite the restaurant being commercially run this component also received HLF funding as a portion of the revenue is directed back into the maintenance of gardens. The project also included small business opportunities such as a cafe and boating lake.
Jephson Gardens won several design awards including a Civic Trust Award, RIBA Award, and RHS Gardens Award.
