Congratulations to Apollo and HKS Architects on winning the Portslade Aldridge Academy bid. The £13 million redevelopment of the current Portslade Community College, includes a combination of new and refurbished buildings that will specilaise in entrepreneurialism and science.
The Plincke masterplan aims to enhance the transparency between the academy and the community as well as rationalise the external circulation. We designed a new entrance plaza to orientate pupils and visitors whilst keeping pedestrian and vehicular accesses separate. The creation of a central hub space is supplemented with 4-courtyards, each associated with one of the Academy’s 4 schools of learning. The courtyards provide a resource for external learning and social development.
The Academy is due to go on site at the beginning of next year and is due for completion in summer 2013.
