Commissioning of Gheluvelt Park’s ‘Splashpad’ was completed today and it is due to open to the public on Tuesday 1 June.
The Splashpad consists of seven interactive ‘water-play’ features controlled by pressure activated foot or hand pads. These include a rock pool, tap fountain, foaming jet sprays and a water tunnel. The lower circular fountain is illuminated at dusk to add a further dimension to the park.
The Splashpad is part of the £1.4m HLF lottery funded project, also comprising a new interpretative feature and refurbished play area. Works will be completed in August 2010.
